STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Teams and Sporting Events

In addition to providing the students with a variety of activities in the PE curriculum, the ABA encourages students to participate in extra curricular sports. We coach teams of students in the under 12, 14, 16 and open age groups. Team sports include Volleyball, Soccer, Cricket, Swimming, Basketball, Tennis, and Track and Field. All of our students are encouraged to compete in a variety of intramural competitions that include swimming, basketball, volleyball, and floor hockey.

To accommodate these activities, the school ha sits own pool, tennis and volleyball courts, Astroturf sports field and multi-purpose sports hall.

Interscholastic Competition

ABA participates in a Muscat inter-school league, and is currently a member of the International Schools Activities Conference (ISAC) and the eastern Mediterranean Activities Conference (EMAC). Each year, the ABA sends teams all over the Middle East to participate in tournaments with other foreign community schools.

Student Councils

The Elementary School, Middle School and High School Student Councils are active in organizing a variety of social activities throughout the year including spirit days, discos, and the annual prom.

At ABA , the counseling Department's goal is the development of the whole student. This includes the academic, social and emotional aspects of a student's life. Therefore, the Guidance Counselors and Homeroom Advisors work together to achieve this goal. The counselors, who are available to all students and their families, provide support to students, teachers, and parents through both individual contacts and group meetings.

Mission of both councils:

The student council provides a way for students to have their needs, requests and ideas listened and responded to. We do so by liaising between the administration and the student body. In addition, we aim to make the school community eventful, engaging, fun and services oriented.

Middle School Student Council:  Representatives are selected through a nomination and interview process.
Activities-Events:  Seasonal discos, coordination of MYP assemblies, year end party, candy grams and spirit days.

High School Student Council:  Representatives are selected through and application and election process.
Activities/Events:   winter dance, prom, coordination of community assemblies, Kris Kingle (secret santa), and spirit days.
