Current Community Service/CAS Opportunities and Announcements August 30, 2010
Announcement: Please note that the Community and Service / CAS requirements have changed for Grades 7-10. Please see the Service / CAS boards for details. (Grade 6 Service will begin in Term 2).
Ambassador’s needed; Students in grade 7-11 are required for Secondary school parent’s evening on Tuesday September 6th from 4.30 to 5.30pm. If you are interested in this as a one off community service, there is a sign-up sheet on the notice board outside your counselor’s office.
IGCSE Chemistry Tutors (11-12, service): Mrs. Kouwenhoven is in need of IGCSE chemistry tutors. Please email her at gkouwenhoven@abaoman.edu.om if interested.
IGCSE Physics Tutors (11-12, service): Tutors are needed for Grade 9 and 10 physics students. Please contact Mr. McGuiness at jmcguiness@abaoman.edu.om.
Assistants for Mr Savage and Ms Anthony (7 & 8, Service); two students are needed assist during a break time each week. Please email or see Ms Anthony for details.
Bulletin editing and filming volunteer (7-12, Service and Creative): Mr. Cole is in need of volunteers to help edit and film the daily bulletin. See Mr. Cole.
DT Assistant (7-12, service): Mrs. Harbord is in need of an assistant. Please see her or contact her at mharbord@abaoman.edu.om.
Lost and Found Property Volunteers (7-12, service): Please see Mrs. Frederickson or Ms. Anthony if you are interested in helping with the lost and found property box.
Grade 2 Assistant (7-12, service and creative): Mrs. Ironside, Grade 2 teacher, is in need of student volunteers during break times. Please contact her at hironside@abaoman.edu.om.
K3 Teacher Assistant (7-12, service and creative): Ms. O’Driscoll, K3 teacher, is in need of volunteers twice a week. Contact her at codriscol@abaoman.edu.om if interested.
Tech Assistant for Mrs. Devine (8-12, service and creative): Mrs. Devine would appreciate a student who can assist her with technology. Please email her at bdevine@abaoman.edu.om.
Elementary Library Assistants (7-12, service): Mrs. Allum is in need of student volunteers. Any interested student should see her in the elementary library.
Assistant for Mrs. Frederickson (8-12, service): Mrs. Frederickson is in need of an assistant or two during breaks, study periods or after school. Please see her in SF5 to find out more details.
Jazz Band (9-12, Creative): A jazz band information meeting will be held on Sunday, August 29 at 230pm in Mr. Cole’s music studio. Grade 8-12 students are eligible. (G9-12 students can use jazz band for CAS).
Brownie Troupe Volunteers (9-12, Service): The Oman Brownie troupe is in search for some female volunteers to work with a group of elementary girls. For more information, see Mrs. Frederickson or contact Diana Cramp at diana.cramp@cggveritas.com.
Cooking Course (9-12, creative): The National Hospitality Institute offers cooking courses for teenagers. For more information, contact Robert at robert@nhioman.com or 24816313.
Dog Kennels (7-12, service and action): The dog kennals in Qurm are in need of volunteers to walk dogs. Please call 95204228. Grade 7 students must be accompanied by a parent.
Nearly New Center (7-12, service): The center, located on the Ruwi Church compound, will gladly accept volunteers to work on Tuesday evenings and Fridays. Call 24799475.
